Bateman’s Apple Day

Join us at Bateman's for our amazing apple day with family fun, games to play and you can even try your hand at some orchard crafts. Saturday 19 October, 11am - 4pm.

Celebrate the harvest

This article was about the 2019 Apple  Day and will be refreshed for 2020.

As summer draws to a close, the fruits and vegetables are ripening fast. Come along on Saturday 19 October and explore our orchards; including the relatively new Mill Orchard commemorating the centenary of the deaths of John Kipling’s and 8 other local boys at the Battle of Loos.

Fresh from the trees and ground

We'll have a range of produce available for you to try, in particular the many varieties of apples we grow here. Bring the family and have a tasting session to see which variety your family likes best and then take some home to enjoy.

Have a go at some orchard crafts

At this time of the year we bring out our homemade apple mill and press. The smell and taste of freshly pressed apples is a true autumn experience. Come and have a go at pressing some apples. There'll be plenty of fun for all the family with some orchard crafts and activities.

Discover more in the tea room and shop

Our Mulberry tea-room will be offering some tempting orchard-inspired treats on the menu and the Oast House shop will have jams and chutneys on sale ready for you to lay-in for the cooler months ahead.

Come and discover the richness of the harvest from our gardens and orchards.

Be prepared

It might be worth coming in your wellies, to prepare for any muddy areas in the garden and on the grass areas in and around the gazebos.
