For little adventurers

A Happy Child on the adventure playground with his mother.

Berrington Hall is an excellent day out for people of all ages. We have lots of activities to keep both little ones and grown-ups entertained.

Natural play and outdoor games

Your little ones can run, jump and climb to their heart’s content on the adventure playground just a minute’s walk from the tea room. There are also picnic benches nearby for parents to relax and keep a watchful eye.

In the spring and summer, children can play outdoor games such as croquet and cricket out on the lawn.

Outdoor adventures

Take a walk through the beautiful 'Capability' Brown landscape to the den building area in the woods. Help your budding architects to build dens from the branches scattered around the woodland floor.

Maybe try some of the '50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾' activities. Pick up a leaflet from Visitor Reception and take up the challenge as you stroll through Berrington's parkland, such as bird watching, skimming stones and bug hunting.

You can even take part in one of our outdoor trails every holiday. Pick up a trail sheet from Visitor Reception and follow the clues around the gardens.

Trails cost £2.50 per child with a prize included at the end.

Indoor fun

There are also seasonal trails within the mansion. Kids will be on the lookout for special things in the rooms of Berrington. Can they find them all?

Get kitted out like a Georgian in our dressing up room which is filled with dresses and cloaks for little ones to try on.

While you're here, why not take a look in our second-hand bookshop which has many children's books, as well as colouring books and board games for your littles ones to play with.

Stop for a snack

You and your children might build up an appetite after facing the great outdoors. The tea-room in the courtyard has a great selection of food and drink, including children’s lunchboxes.

The Stables Café is also open during busy periods; this café is pushchair and wheelchair friendly. We also welcome your four legged friends in the Stables Cafe and Courtyard.

Family facilities

Baby changing facilities are available and breastfeeding is welcome anywhere you feel comfortable; if you'd like a little privacy, please ask.

We hope you and your whole family enjoys visiting Berrington Hall.
