Autumnal fungi forays

Scleroderma Areolatum fungi

Autumn is a wonderful time of year. The fruits are falling from the trees, the leaves are changing their colour and countless species of fungi are emerging.

From now until it gets cold and frosty we should get a good show of fungi. Eighty two species were recorded last year, some of which include the big parasol mushrooms, earthballs and boletus of various types, even the occasional stinkhorn.

Join one of our two fungi forays, enjoy an early morning boat ride before the island opens and meet the specialists from the Dorset Fungus Group.  They will take you on a walk around the island to discover the different fungi that we have here.  Afterwards you can enjoy mushrooms on toast and a cup of tea in the cafe.

Saturday 30 September and Saturday 28 October, meet at the Sandbanks jetty at 7.30am.  You will need to pay for parking on the road at Sandbanks.  £20 per person which includes boat ride, guided tour and breakfast.  Please call the office to book and for more information.  Places are limited. 01202 707744
