Red squirrels in the autumn
Autumn is a great time to spot red squirrels on Brownsea Island as they scurry around the woodland floor hiding food for the winter. Guided red squirrel walks run twice a day between Monday 26 September to Friday 21 October.
Autumn is a time when squirrels and other wildlife prepare for colder days ahead. At this time of year the squirrels come down from the sheltered canopy of the trees to store food. They can often be seen playing in the low branches and running along the woodland floor.
Starting on Monday 26 September and running until Friday 21 October, guided red squirrel walks will not only show you some of the best places to spot them but also tell you more about the species. The walks are free and will run twice a day at 11.30am and 2pm.
