The castle is currently displayed to tell the story of the Drewe family and how the castle was built from 1911-1930. There is a lot of the collection on display in the rooms in the south end of the castle where the building restoration is now complete.
Bringing a coach?
Due to the narrow roads on the approach to Castle Drogo we do not recommend bringing a coach that is longer than 10.5 metres, wider than 2.39 metres or bigger than 43 seats. The best route is coming off the A30 at Whiddon down (to A382), then taking the first exit at the roadabout to Sandy Park and then turning left opposite the pub. (This left hand turn can be very tight if cars have parked on the junction).
Planning your visit
We would recommend allowing 60 minutes-90 minutes to tour the castle (there are around 14 rooms open) and around 30 minutes for the garden. The estate can be anywhere from 30 minutes to a whole day depending on the walks and paths you choose to take.
