Coach House tea-room at Sudbury Hall and the Museum of Childhood

A bowl of our potato and onion soup made from a recipe in our Cookbook

Make the most of your day at Sudbury Hall and the Museum of Childhood and have morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea all in one place. The hardest thing is deciding which of the tasty cakes to choose from.

Our food

The Coach House tea-room is proud to serve a seasonal menu, using local and fair-trade products wherever possible.
Our cakes are baked with freedom food free-range eggs and our sausages are supplied by the local butcher in Sudbury Village; he’s been supplying the Coach House tea-room since 1972.

Treat yourself to a cooked lunch from our daily special’s menu. Favourite dishes include sausage and mash, jacket potatoes and hot Panini’s with a variety of fillings.
For something lighter choose from our range of bloomer sandwiches or a bowl of tasty homemade soup, all freshly prepared on site.

Children's menu

Our younger visitors can tuck into the children's menu with mini versions of our main meals.
If the weather’s good then children can pick and choose from a range of items to fill their own lunch bag and enjoy a picnic outside.

Tasty treats

For your afternoon tea try one of our delicious scones baked on site; we make savoury and sweet varieties, depending on what tickles your taste buds.
We always have a range of cakes to tempt you throughout the day. Choose from one of our traditional favourites like Victoria sponge, chocolate and coffee cake, or local recipes for Ashbourne ginger cake and Bakewell slices.

Opening times

Free to visit, the Coach House tea-room is open from 11am to 5pm every day during the open season, with hot food served between 12pm and 2.30pm.
