Meet the Artist - Gary McCann
In 2018, Felbrigg will be hosting exciting new installations in the service wing, which will be open for the first time at weekends in January and early February. We find out more about the artist producing these works, and his inspiration behind them.
About the artist
Gary McCann is a theatre designer from Northern Ireland, with bases in both London and Berlin. He works as a set and costume designer for opera, musicals and theatre, which takes him all over the globe, creating new productions with some of the world’s most significant companies.
Although mostly known for his theatre design, this will not be the first time Gary McCann has worked with the National Trust. In April 2015, he was commissioned to create art installations in the 18th century follies at Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire.
Inspired by our special place
The installations at Felbrigg are inspired by our Wild and Exotic programme taking place throughout 2018. Four unique ‘curious cabinets’, created by Gary and inspired by Felbrigg, will hold objects from our collection that are not usually on display to the public.
The installations will be on display in our service wing at weekends from 6 January 2018. The house will be open daily from 10 February, and the installations will be on show for the entirety of 2018.
