Norfolk and Norwich Festival - 'Pleasure Garden' at Felbrigg 2019
In partnership with the Norfolk and Norwich Festival, this May, Felbrigg's Walled Garden will be transformed into a listening garden.
A new installation at Felbrigg
Music and environmental sounds combine in the magnificent gardens of Felbrigg Hall to create a listening garden. Visitors are invited into the music and natural architecture, as they stroll or sit for a while.
Inspired by the story and music of Jacob van Eyck – the 17th century Dutch musician, composer, improviser and nobleman, Pleasure Garden combines excerpts from his work, set within new music by Genevieve Lacey (Australia) and Jan Bang (Norway).
" In Lacey’s hands, it’s a work of haunting purity. It returns in variation throughout the album, and in each rendition its stillness creates a moment of peace."
The music is delicate and contemplative. It does not intrude on the environment. It enhances a sense of peace and wonder. We hope visitors of all ages and backgrounds will be drawn to its beauty.
The gardens at Felbrigg
Felbrigg's Walled Garden is widely renowned as one of East Anglia's finest. Get up close to the double borders and herb beds and really breathe in the scent of lavender, sage and mint. You can find many modern surprises within this traditionally laid out garden. Looking after the gardens is hard work, but a rewarding job for our team, and every visit to our gardens helps to keep them blooming for future generations.
