Enjoy a virtual visit to Formby

Looking out to see from Formby's sand dunes

Enjoy a virtual visit to Formby during lockdown. Listen to our new audio walk and experience the colours, sights and sounds of Formby's varied landscapes from home.

Due to current government guidelines we know many of you are missing visiting Formby. Our new audio walk will help you enjoy a virtual nature walk through Formby’s woodlands, over the dunes, along the beach and through the grasslands. All from the comfort of your own home.

Join ranger Chris as he walks and describes what he can see, hear, smell and experience. There’s lots of calming nature sounds from birds singing, trees creaking and the wind whispering over sand dunes to the squelch of muddy puddles. Chris also shares some interesting facts about Formby’s precious wildlife and landscape along the way.

Having previously worked for the charity Open Country and seeing how popular their series of lockdown audio walks have been, Chris was inspired to create this virtual visit to Formby.

Open Country help people with disabilities to access and enjoy the countryside. Though based in North Yorkshire, their Lancashire Countryside Directory lists many wonderful countryside spots in the North-west to visit (once Covid-19 restrictions allow), along with their disabled access facilities. All available to download or print from their website for free. They also have a selection of lockdown audio walks. Visit www.opencountry.org.uk
