February half-term family fun at Gibside

Child jumping in mud

Gibside has acres of space for youngsters. They can run wild in the fresh air, get closer to nature and take part in some fun activities.

Every day of February half-term there'll be a free, fun activity taking place here from 11am to 3pm.

The theme for this year is plodging. It's all about wrapping up warm and getting outdoors to make the most of nature and the fresh air - whatever the weather.

Throughout the week you can hunt for hidden wellies on the wellyteering trail. It will take you around the gardens and the aim is to find all the wellies.

From Monday to Friday, you can get cooking in the mud kitchen and bake up something messy, try welly wanging, a traditional game of throwing the welly to see whose will go the furthest and create a masterpiece during messy mud painting. Plus, you can simply enjoy plodging in the mud.

You'll need clothes that you can splash around in, such as your welly boots and waterproofs. Normal admission charges apply during February half term.
