Learning at Gibside

Two National Trust leaders in the woodlands with a school

Gibside is a grand 18th-century landscape designed garden, which can also become your very own classroom. Here, you can reconnect with nature and history.

When you come to Gibside, how the day goes is completely up to you.

You can book a self-led visit or choose from a range of fun and motivational activities led by the learning team that are tailored to your group's needs. All of them can help support delivery of the National Curriculum.

Choose from half or a full day of National Trust led activities which we've grouped into themes to help you find what you're looking for.

Staying overnight has its benefits too. Gibside Stables Bunkhouse, which is nestled within the estate, caters for large groups in comfortable dormitory style accommodation where there’s space for up to 37 people.

If you know that your party will be arriving by coach, we do advise that you book your visit and coach at least seven days in advance. While we always try to accommodate all requests, please do be aware that there may be times when coaches are not able to park onsite at Gibside.
