Half-term fun at Greenway
This half term come and join the fun at Children's book week, part of the Greenway Literary Festival. There'll be activities and workshops, trails indoors and out, games and much more.
To kick off our Literary Festival at Greenway we'll be holding a whole week over the half term dedicated to children's books. There’ll be activities and workshops to take part in, along with children’s book authors making an appearance. A full programme will be available on the website nearer the time, so check back soon.
Inside Greenway house, there’ll be comfy seats dotted around the house kitchen with stacks of books to pick from. You can settle down and spend a quiet afternoon reading, or pick up the literary themed trail and track the clues around the house.
When Agatha and her family spent their holidays here, they would play games and explore the gardens. Why not have a game of croquet or soft-ball tennis when you visit? Or take part in our code breakers trail around the woodland garden, which is free to pick up from Visitor Reception.
If you venture further down the paths towards the Boathouse, you could count the boats on the river, which is always bustling with activity; trawlers, river cruises, a paddle steamer and kayakers can regularly be seen. It's also a great place to watch wildlife, such as the occasional seal in the river. The Battery is complete with cannon, which always captures little-one's imaginations.
50 things fun
At Greenway there are lots of 50 things to do before you're 11¾ that you can tick off your list. During half term you can:
16. Wear a wild crown
The lawns by the house and in the Walled Garden are great places to look for wild flowers.
12. Have fun with sticks
You're sure to find a stick or two if you take a walk through the woodland garden. Why not lay a trail to help you find your way back?
2. Roll down a really big hill
If you head to the Top Garden you'll see a lovely grassy hill to roll down
