Vegetable Ham - tastes of late summer
This article relates to 2017, please come back soon to find out about our future plans. We will be harvesting the vegetable and fruit bounty from the Kitchen Garden at Ham House, from Uchi Kuri squashes to Glen Magna raspberries. Come and try our seasonal dishes in the Orangery Café, pick your own vegetables from our Family Tasting Garden or take home a Ham Veg bag.
Ham's Kitchen Garden ripe for a visit.
Ham’s vegetable garden is productive and stunning through late summer into autumn. Visit us at the end of September to see our harvest and pick up your own delicious veg.
Younger visitors can dig the last of the potatoes and pick some herbs or salad leaves to take home from our Family Tasting Garden.
In the kitchen garden, everybody will enjoy the autumnal scene of several different types of squashes sun-bathing to ripen, ready for the Hallowe'en rush.
Taste the harvested vegetable in our Orangery Café dishes and buy the produce we grow at our shop.
The most popular purchases tend to be the prized culinary squashes, like Crown Prince and the more ornamental autumn scene-stealers like Turkish Turban.
Our Kitchen Garden tours continue at 2pm on Wednesdays, focusing on the history, plans and produce of this historic, walled space that first fed the hungry Ham household and its visitors 350 years ago.
