Christmas at Hinton Ampner 2017

A spell is cast over Hinton Ampner this Christmas. With spinning wheels whirring, glass slippers lost and gingerbread crumbs left behind, step into the magical world of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales.

Saturday 2 - Sunday 31 December

As the magical and macabre world of Brothers Grimm fairy tales comes to Hinton Ampner this Christmas, marvel at Rapunzel’s gigantic plait, adorned with beads and ribbons, spiraling down the staircase and the Elves and the Shoemaker hard at work.

All of Hinton Ampner's ground floor rooms are decorated, each one bringing to life a different fairy tale. Can you guess which fairy tales will be in which rooms?

" One day the grandmother presented the little girl with a red velvet riding hood; and as it fitted her very well, she would never wear anything else; and so she was called Little Red Riding Hood."
- Brothers Grimm

Festive family fun

The fairy tale magic will sweep through the whole estate, including a Brothers Grimm themed Advent calendar trail for all the family to take part in. Find out what's in each box and guess the fairy tale to complete the challenge (£2 per trail).

Around the rooms are Hinton Ampner’s popular miniature mice, sporting costumes linked to our Grimms fairy tales. How many can you spot?

Tasty treats

Hinton’s pop-up shop makes a welcome return to the courtyard. Its shelves are laden with traditional old-fashioned sweets to tickle your tastebuds.
