About Abbey Stores

Moments away from Fountains Abbey, this characterful cottage has lots of original features.

Ideal for a romantic break, 18th-century Abbey Stores became a shop in the 1930s before being transformed into a cosy holiday cottage in the 1990s. With many original features intact, this characterful cottage, complete with wood-burning stove, is in a truly unique location.

Just moments away from the entrance to Fountains Abbey, you can’t fail to be impressed by this beautiful World Heritage site dating back to the 12th-century. Explore the grounds of the site at your leisure, even when all the other visitors have gone home.

Further afield, the city of York makes for a fantastic day out. Just 30 miles from the cottage, this famous city is awash with Medieval architecture, traditional inns and narrow lanes.

About the Acorn rating

We have applied a 1-5 acorn rating to each cottage to be used only as a guide that covers location, style of interior and facilities you may be looking for. The range runs from 1 Acorn at a more basic level such as Bird How which due to its stunning yet remote location doesn’t have a caretaker through to 5 Acorns at the highest level – such as Shute Barton.

Cottage pricing is not judged on the Acorn rating alone and as all our cottages are of an individual nature we recommend that all factors are considered when making your choice.
