About Tern Barn

Tern Barn is one of five newly-converted barns in the quiet northern part of the Attingham Estate. It is surrounded by 4,000 acres of park, farm and woodland. Built in the first half of the 1900s at the former farm of Berwick New House, this was the barn where the wagons were loaded. It is now a light and comfortable space with plenty of character and charm. You’ll find exposed beams, original brick walls and floor to ceiling windows.

On the ground floor, the hallway leads to an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room area with a woodburning stove. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, and the bathroom.

The five barns share an enclosed garden, with a lawn, a firepit ready for barbecues and a dining patio. Outside the barns you’ll also find electric car charging points, a bicycle store and a dog shower.

There are a great many walks, cycle routes and waterways on the estate. A canal leads from the bottom of the drive to Berwick Wharf. You’ll have free entry to the Attingham Park’s Regency Mansion, Walled Garden and Field of Play, as well as other National Trust properties in the area during opening hours. There is access to the parkland anytime during your stay.  Attingham’s Carriage House Café, Stables Shop and second-hand bookshop are open every day.

The village of Atcham and local pubs are 3 miles away, with the vibrant town of Shrewsbury a 15-minute drive. Close by, there are canals, the rivers Severn and Tern, great Shropshire walks, and attractions including Wroxeter Roman City and World Heritage Site Ironbridge Gorge.

Larger groups can also book neighbouring barns Wharf Barn, Canal Barn, Severn Barn and Forge Barn.
