The Knole Children's Book Festival 2019

Welcome to Knole's second Children’s Book Festival, taking place 16-17 November 2019. Our fun-packed programme suits children of all ages. Browse the full programme of events below, book tickets to your favourites and have the chance to meet the authors and illustrators. Book signings will take place after many of the events and books from all festival authors will be available to buy in the children's section of Knole's Bookshop. *Please note that all children must be accompanied by a paying adult, and parking is £5 for non-members.*

Lauren Child in conversation | Sat 16 Nov, 4-5pm | Ages 7+

At this utterly special event, Lauren Child will be in conversation with Nicolette Jones to celebrate all things Clarice Bean and 20 years as a children’s author. Lauren was Waterstones Children's Laureate from 2017-2019, is a multi-award-winning, bestselling writer and artist whose books are known and loved the world over. Clarice Bean, That’s Me was her first book, which published 20 years ago in 1999. Price: £8 / Location: Great Hall

Christmas has come early with this event from the twice CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal winner, Emily Gravett. Discover how Emily became an illustrator and the inspiration behind her award-winning books. Emily will introduce you to a very friendly squirrel and rat called Cyril and Pat and reunite you with old friends including Meerkat Mail's Sunny as you join him on his new adventure in the gorgeous new picture book, Meerkat Christmas. Join our extra special storyteller for an exclusive performance based on Elmer, everyone’s favourite patchwork elephant as we celebrate Elmer Day! Hear Lara and Trisha talking about the book, the inspiration for the costumes and Lara's work as costume curator at the V&A. Go ‘behind the scenes’ with Trisha’s mood board, storyboards and sketches as she talks about how she created the illustrations before leading the children in an activity to each decorate their very own Moonstone-inspired paper doll.
