Family in the woods

Get on the trail

Pick up your family trail at visitor reception and go on a self-led adventure around the abbey grounds. There is a new trail every season, so there is always new fun to be had.

Children in the rain

Rainy days

Raining cats and dogs? Keep dry and visit the medieval cloisters and the abbey, enjoy one of the trails and help us find all the felt bugs in the furnished rooms. Learn all about the invention of photography in the Fox Talbot Museum from our museum displays, and see the exhibition in the mezzanine gallery. Alternatively pop on your wellies and raincoats and explore the abbey grounds. Hear the raindrops on the leaves and see who can make the biggest splash in the puddles.

It's play time

Follow the path from the rose garden to the rockworks to find our play area with stepping logs, rope swing and optical play telescopes. When you walk around the abbey look out for the willow cloister where you can play hide and seek.
