Lanhydrock Peter Rabbit Winter Adventure Activity Trail

Walking trail

The Peter Rabbit Winter Adventure Activity Trail begins on Saturday 5 December. Trail activity bags can be purchased from Park Café and cost £2 each. Don't forget to download a directional map below. This walk takes you through the parkland nearest the house, to the historic gatehouse and Beech Avenue. An ideal walk for little legs.

Additional Information

This walk follows hard paths, the steepest gradient is downhill from Reception to the gatehouse. Dogs are welcome anywhere on the 900 acre estate, please keep them on leads in the parkland around livestock.

Begin your adventure at the Lanhydrock hub by following the red signposts towards the house. One of Peter Rabbit's friends is hiding in this area and another at the glass Reception building. Be careful as you cross the road!

Once you have passed the glass Reception building, go through the wooden gate and follow the path. Turn left and walk along the road to the Regional offices. Can you spot one of Peter's friends here? Once you've found him, turn around and go back to the main drive down to the house.

Keep walking downhill until you come to a road on your right. There are three of Peter Rabbit's friends hiding here. Can you find them all?

You're doing so well! How many friends have you found so far? If you've found three along this lane then turn around and head back to the main drive. Walk downhill towards the old gatehouse.

Outside the gatehouse head along the wide Beech Avenue to your left. There are two of Peter Rabbit's friends here! Once you've found them, turn around and head back towards the house.

Turn left at the top of Beech Avenue and walk around the curved road at the side of the garden wall. Can you find the last of Peter's friends here? Congratulations! You have completed the Lanhydrock Peter Rabbit Winter Adventure Activity Trail. Don't forget to head back to the hub for your victory photo next to the Peter Rabbit selfie board. There are some rabbit-themed treats in the Park Café and lots of Peter Rabbit goodies in the Plant Centre.

Terrain

All areas of the trail are on hard surface paths. The steepest gradient is the driveway down to the house.

There are many other routes at Lanhydrock for you to explore, including walks alongside the River Fowey and through the ancient woodland. Dogs on leads are welcome on the estate, but please be aware that livestock graze in the park. No dogs in the formal garden, thank you.

How to get here

By train

Bodmin Parkway Station is a 1.75 mile (2.8km) walk from the house via the original carriage-drive.

By road

2.5 miles (4km) south-east of Bodmin. Follow signposts from either A30 or A38 Bodmin to Liskeard, or take B3268 off A390 at Lostwithiel. Parking available in main car park and Respryn. Parking is free for NT members, £5 all day/£1 for an hour for non-members.

  • Peter Rabbit Activity Trail bags cost £2 each and can be collected from the Park Cafe.
  • Main car park and Respryn car park both open
  • Parking free for National Trust members, or £5 all day for non-members
  • The house and gardens are closed until March 2021
  • The Park Cafe is open 7 days a week, 9.30am-4pm
  • The Plant Centre is open 7 days a week, 10am-4pm
  • The Cycle Hire is open 7 days a week, 10am-4pm
  • The cycle trails are open every day, dawn to dusk
  • There are accessible toilet facilities open at the hub, opposite Park Cafe
  • There are no trampers available for hire and no buggy shuttle service
