Staying safe at Levant

The safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff remains our top priority. We'll continue to provide hand sanitiser and stick to our high standards of cleanliness. Face coverings are recommended in the man engine tunnel and engine house. If you’re showing any of the symptoms of coronavirus, or if you've been in contact with anyone that has the virus in the last 14 days, please don’t visit.

Face coverings

Face coverings are recommended in enclosed, crowded areas. Thank you for supporting us to make this a safe experience for everyone.

You can only visit the buildings at Levant by booking a guided tour. Indoor spaces will have capacity limits, this means that in some areas your guide may manage the number of visitors.

The toilets are open.

There is no cafe at Levant, but we encourage you to enjoy other great eateries on the 'Tin Coast'. A short walk or drive will take you to nearby Geevor Café (not National Trust) which sells pasties, lunches and drinks.

You can visit the wider Levant Mine site without booking a ticket. Please park at Geevor.

Bringing a dog

We welcome assistance dogs only as part of pre booked tours.  However all dogs are welcome on the wider site. There are lots of mining remains in the landscape including mine shafts, it’s always a good idea to keep your dog on a lead in this area.

Accessible parking is available at the Levant car park. Please call the office in advance to arrange this.

There is limited access to wheelchair users due to rough surfaces, slopes and stairs.

There is a British Sign Language Tour of Levant available on a tablet and a large print guide of the site, please ask one of the team.

Levant Mine and Beam Engine is an industrial site. There is uneven terrain, steep slopes and mining remains.

The tour lasts for approximately one and a half hours in the ticketed area. This includes access to the Man Engine Tunnel where there is a  curved staircase underground, with no hand-rail,  and uneven floor surface.

The National Trust on the Tin Coast has two trampers available to hire for exploring. The trampers are based at Botallack Count House Workshop Cafe  – please call Botallack Office to pre-book.
