Volunteer at Mompesson House

Room Guide

We're currently looking for people to join our friendly and enthusiastic team as volunteer room guides for the 2020 season.

Volunteering at Mompesson House

Room guides help visitors to enjoy and learn more about Mompesson House; answering questions and sharing stories about the house, its history and wonderful collections. They play a key role in making visitors feel really welcome and add to their experience of the whole property.

What's involved in room guiding?

In 2020 the house will be open every day from Saturday 7 March to Sunday 1 November. There are different volunteer sessions available.

All day (preferred) 10.45am-5pm
Morning 10.45am-2pm
Afternoon 1.45pm-5pm
Relief 12pm-3.45pm

You'll get a 30 minute break in the morning and a 30 minute break in the afternoon.

We're particularly looking for volunteers to help out on Thursdays and Fridays and at the weekends.

No experience is necessary. You'll learn on the job with the help of information that is available about the house and its collections and by talking to other volunteers. If you enjoy meeting people and are friendly and enthusiastic this is the role for you.

" Mompesson House is a beautiful place and volunteering is a lovely way to be part of its heritage. It is a pleasure to help visitors enjoy the house. There is always something new to learn about its history and often visitors add to our knowledge too. The other volunteers are friendly, knowledgeable and good fun. "
