Autumn wildlife

A red squirrel peering out from behind a branch

Autumn is a wonderful time to visit Mount Stewart - it's not just the foliage changing, it's the wildlife too. Look out for the red squirrels preparing for winter.

Here's what you can expect to see over the next few months:

  • An array of fungi
  • Red squirrels
  • Flocks of long-tailed tit
  • Treecreeper
  • Goldcrest - Ireland's smallest bird
  • Jay - look out for them burying acorns
