February half-term at Ormesby Hall

A child in costume mixes flour in the kitchen

This February half-term experience life as a Victorian servant with the interactive self-led trail, with washing in the Laundry, dusting the stairs, ironing the newspaper and more servants jobs to try.

All in a days work

Fancy polishing the boots? Perhaps you’d rather empty the chamber pots? This half-term children can dress up as a Victorian servant and follow the interactive family trail through the house. Along the way have a go at some of the jobs the servants once did, with linen folding, cleaning the silver, making salt dough food shapes in the kitchen. If you would like to apply for a job as a servant you could complete the job application form and leave it for the Butler.

Snowdrop planting

Join the garden team and help them plant some snowdrop bulbs in the spring garden and along the holly walk to brighten up different areas of the garden this spring. Then you can look at your handy work year on year as the snowdrops reappear. This event is on Monday 12 and Wednesday 14 February, 11am - 1pm.

Explore the great outdoors

Have fun with some garden games and a game of croquet on the croquet lawn or make a messy meal in the mud pie kitchen. The garden will be filled with new snowdrops and other spring bulbs with the daffodils also starting to sprout up from the ground.

Fancy a winter walk? Then put on your walking boots or wellies for a family walk around the estate to see Ormesby Hall in it’s winter glory as you cross the farmland.

Inside the hall

In the old servant’s wing the surprise discovery of model railways and Thomas the tank engine always delights young visitors who are fascinated by the running trains. They can even take control and push the buttons to control Thomas and his friends on the interactive layout. Families can relax with a book, get creative in the crafts space, dress up as a servant and have a play in the family room.

Whatever the weather this February half-term Ormesby Hall has plenty to do inside and out.

An admission ticket to the house and garden is needed to access all events.

Ormesby Hall is open 11am – 4pm this half-term and for car parking please follow the brown road signs for coaches. Sat Nav: TS7 9AS
