Plan it, Build it, Test it: Family Craft

A family getting involved in craft activities in the Play Tent at Petworth

Inspired by Elizabeth Ilive who lived at Petworth in the late 1780s and her invention the cross-bar lever, have a go at making some inventions of your own every Wednesday in August at our Play Tent.

Visit the Play Tent in the Pleasure Grounds, beside the House, and for a £2 donation work on some technology inspired craft to take home.

Can you build a raft that will make it successfully across our water challenge? In true scientific style we want you to plan your invention first, make it and then give it a test. If it doesn't work then it's back to the drawing board.

Draw us a picture of how your invention will look and then start on the building.

Don't worry we have plenty of step by step designs to give you ideas and help you build your invention but for those with an inquisitive mind they can build their own contraption.

Once you've built your invention then you need to give it a test. WIll it beat the challenge? If not it's back to the drawing board to make some alterations for the next test.

Ideal for the STEM curriculum that focuses on science, technology, engineering and maths, for a £2 donation have a go at making some science inspired craft to take home.
