Christmas days out at Quarry Bank

Get lost in traditional winter stories this Christmas. From Friday 30 November 2018 to Sunday 6 January 2019 you can step into a magical Christmas wonderland and explore the worlds of ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King’, ‘The Snow Queen’ and more.

Once upon a winter’s day…

Wrap up warm and head out on a wintery adventure at Quarry Bank. In the garden you can follow the frozen clues to find where Jack Frost is making his mischief. Make sure you’re careful on your travels though – the Snow Queen is about and looking for children to take back to her icy home.

In Quarry Bank House the Nutcracker and the Mouse King are locked in battle. Can you help Marie to break the Nutcracker’s curse and escape to the doll kingdom? Meanwhile in the Apprentice House you might just spot some reindeer flying over the roof as Father Christmas drops off his presents on ‘The Night Before Christmas’. All activities in 'Once Upon a Winter's Day', excluding visits to Father Christmas, are included in the Quarry Bank admission price.

Christmas in the mill

This winter the mill has become the office of two of the most famous Christmas characters of all, Ebenzer Scrooge and Bob Cratchit. Rediscover the magic of ‘A Christmas Carol’ and see whether you can reform Scrooge’s cruel ways before Christmas Day. Head to the Exhibition Space to explore all the winter stories and have a go at festive crafts, or explore the indoor winter woodland to find the secret story corner.
