Visiting Quarry Bank: what you need to know
The gardens, woodland, café and shops at Quarry Bank are open. The Mill and Apprentice House will reopen on 17 May. On weekdays you don’t need to pre-book your visit. At busier times, like weekends and school holidays, booking is recommended to guarantee entry. Please read this article carefully so you know what expect from your visit to Quarry Bank.
Planning your visit
Please book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
Entry is free for National Trust members, but please bring your membership card with you. Non-members will need to pay in advance when booking. Parking is free for all visitors to Quarry Bank.
How to book:
- Please book one ticket per person, except for children aged 5 or under as they don’t need a ticket.
- You’ll need to choose a 30-minute arrival time for the day you want to visit.
- The timeslot is for your arrival time only.
- Tickets are for your use only and are not available for resale.
- We'll send your booking confirmation by email. Please make sure you fill in your correct email address when you book to ensure you receive your confirmation email.
- Every Friday we'll release new bookings for visits the following week. You can book up to 3pm the day before you visit.
Changing your booking
If your plans change and you can’t make your timeslot, you can easily change or cancel your booking. We really appreciate you doing this as soon as possible so the tickets can be made available for other visitors.
If you’re a member, the option to cancel or change your booking can be found in your confirmation email by selecting ‘view and manage your order online' underneath your order summary.
For non-members, please ring us on 0344 249 1895 to discuss changing your booking.
Parking and arrival
When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a member of staff. Please have your tickets and membership card to hand. Please arrive within your 30-minute timeslot. You can go into the gardens at any time before 4pm until they close at 5pm, and you’re welcome to explore the estate at Quarry Bank until 8pm when the car park will close.
To help keep everyone safe, please follow social distancing and government guidance when you visit. And look out for signs while you’re here which will explain any changes to how you can access different parts of the site.
You’ll find sinks for hand washing in the toilets in the Mill Yard and Upper Garden, and will find hand sanitiser in our takeaway food and beverage outlets and entrance and exit to the Visitor Reception. In line with government guidance, you're required to wear a face covering in most enclosed spaces. Please bring one with you.
If you’re showing any of the symptoms of coronavirus, or if you've been in contact with anyone that has the virus in the last 14 days, please don’t visit.
Car park: 8am – 8pm (car park gates lock at 8pm).
Estate: 8.30am – 5pm
Garden: 10am – 5pm (last entry 4.15pm).
Mill: (from 17 May) Monday-Sunday, 10.30am-5pm (last entry at 4.15pm). Please note there will be a one way route and we'll be admitting 25 people every 15 minutes, so you may need to queue for a short while.
Apprentice House: (from 17 May) Monday-Sunday, 11am-4pm (last entry at 3.30pm). There will be a limited number of daily tours, please enquire on arrival.
Quarry Bank House: we’re sorry but Quarry Bank House remains closed.
Village Hub and Workers Cottage: we're sorry but the Village Hub and Workers Cottage remain closed.
Toilets: 10am – 5pm. Located in the Mill Yard and Upper Garden. Accessible toilets and baby changing available.
Eating and shopping
Garden Café: 10am – 5pm. Takeaway only, indoor seating available from 17 May.
Stables Ice Cream Parlour: 10.30am – 5pm (weekends only). Takeaway only.
Weaving Shed Restaurant: (from 17 May), 10.30am-4pm. Indoor seating will be available.
Mill shop: 10.30am – 5pm
Second hand book shop: 10.30am – 5pm
Garden shop: 12pm – 4pm
Blue badge parking available.

Toilets: accessible toilet open in the Mill Yard and Upper Garden.
Please note that the Mill lift is currently not in full operation. If you require an accessible visit, please contact us in advance on 01625 527468.
Shuttle buggy: Shuttle buggy service offering transfers to various parts of the site, including Visitor Reception and the Mill Yard, is available. Please speak to Visitor Reception on arrival. The buggy can carry foldable wheelchairs.
Access for everyone
If you need to bring a carer or essential companion to accompany you as a disabled visitor, you can now book a carers ticket at the time of booking, free of charge.
