Children's Book Festival at Quarry Bank / Sunday 24 June

Welcome to the Children’s Book Festival at Quarry Bank on 23 - 24 June 2018. Stories will come to life across the weekend, as some of your best-loved children’s authors and illustrators host workshops, readings and book signings. Here you can see the programme of events for Sunday 24 June, find your favourite author and book tickets. Each workshop has a small charge per person, click on the event for details. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Benji Davies / Sunday 24 June, 10.00am

Meet author and illustrator Benji Davies for a lively talk where he describes and demonstrates how he creates his stunningly beautiful picture books including The Storm Whale, Grandad’s Island and The Storm Whale in Winter. The session includes live drawing and a chance to ask Benji questions, followed by a book signing. AGE 4+

Join us on a very special Bear Hunt! With storytelling, and arts and crafts and maybe even a special appearance from the bear himself, this event is inspired by We're Going on a Bear Hunt: Let's Discover Bugs and Let’s Discover Birds. The books feature artwork from the animated special of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt which aired on Channel 4 to an audience of over 8 million people and they help young children plan nature hunting adventures with activities and stickers galore! AGE 3 - 6

Come along and meet author and poet A F Harrold and find out all about his latest series, Greta Zargo, a school girl turned detective who is on the case of some amoeba monsters from the middle of the earth. He might even tell you about his other books – the Fizzlebert Stump series, The Imaginary and The Song From Somewhere Else. A.F Harrold is an experienced entertainer who works regularly in schools, running workshops, poetry slams and performances. There will be laughter and poetry! Bring your imagination and find out what fun words can be. AGE 7 - 12

Join David Litchfield (author and illustrator of The Bear & The Piano) as he brings his Bear Band to the woods at Quarry Bank. David will present a special reading of his award-winning book with musical accompaniment from a Bear pianist. You will also have the opportunity to make a bear mask and join the Bear Band as they perform multi- instrumental renditions of popular songs. AGE 4+
