Easter fun at Saltram
Spring is in the air and the gardens are waking up, the days are drawing out and the Easter holidays are upon us which means it's time to get out and about. With two weeks of activities and trails we've got your Easter holidays sorted.
Cadbury Egg Hunt
14 – 17 April, 10am to 4pm.
£2 per hunt. Normal admission prices apply. There is no admission charge for Under 5s and National Trust members.
The Easter bunny has been visiting Saltram for years even though the family left in the 1950’s, can you spot him in the garden and unscramble the letters to find out his favorite hiding place? Two routes can be taken so its suitable for all weather, little legs or longer legs.
Did you know that every penny you spend over Easter will go straight back into keeping Saltram special?
Grab your wits and your muddy boots as you set off on an adventure through the garden to complete our special expedition over the Easter holidays.
Use your expedition notes and choose your own path through the garden to hunt out plants that were bought from aroudn the world. Find out fascinating facts and you might even bump into the modern day planthunters we now call our gardeners who can tell you more about what grows and why. Suitable for ages 8+.
We know that finding a great day out for the family during the holidays is important to you so we’ve put together a two week programme of events and activities to keep you entertained this Easter. You can thank us later.
Why not come and see us between Monday 3rd April and Thursday 13th where on Tuesdays and Thursdays the Rangers and Gardeners will be hosting nature themed activities between 1-4. Or head up to the den building area in the garden on Wednesdays to make spring nature crowns. For more information pop into the Welcome Centre or find out more here.
On Monday 10th April 1-4 'Mr Storyfella' will be in the Orangery telling some enchanted tales and singing some songs. You;re sure to hear him before you see him.
All of these activities are free but normal admissions apply.
Inside or Outside?
If you're keen to try out your newly gained planthunter skills and explore a little furthur on a longer route within the parkland pop into the Welcome centre and pick up a 'Wonderful wildflower trail'. £2 per trail.
The house has fully opened its shutters for the year and invites you to discover the Parker home. Have a good nose around and even have fun dressing up like a georgian.
With the days getting longer it’s getting easier to get outdoors and let off some steam. Saltram’s garden is the perfect place for family strolls, ticking off some of your 50 things and of course a good old picnic on the lawn.
*The useful bits
We are expecting to be very busy over the Easter weekend but don't worry, we have put all we can in place to make sure that you won't have to wait too long for your hunt sheets and lunch.
When parking, please follow the signs and instructions from our team.
The Park cafe serves hot drinks, cakes, ice creams and hot and cold lunches as well however it can get very busy. If you have young ones that may struggle with waiting times, we recommend bringing a picnic and a blanket. You are welcome to dine al fresco in any part of the gardens.
Please pay for your Cadbury Easter egg hunts with cash or card at the Welcome Centre when you buy your entry tickets or get your membership card scanned.
The Cadbury Egg Hunt is along a wheelchair user and pram-friendly route.
We will have a limited number of non-chocolate prizes available for children who can't eat chocolate.
If you finish the trail after 4pm, you can still collect your prize from the Welcome Centre on your way home.
