Events to enjoy as a family at Scotney Castle this Christmas

The magic of Christmas can really be enjoyed through a child's eyes so make the most of their younger years and embrace all the season has to offer. Here at Scotney Castle, we have a variety of events and activities, as well as the opportunity to meet Father Christmas himself, to keep younger visitors amazed and entertained this festive season. Some of these events require booking in advance so please check the individual listings. Bookings for Father Christmas open on 1 November.

Father Christmas will be waiting to greet you in our decorated house to find out what you'd like him to bring you on Christmas Eve. You'll even leave with a small gift.

Saturday and Sunday 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22 & Monday 23 December, 9.30am. Father Christmas will be visiting Scotney and helping families feel even more festive this season. There’s storytelling and gifts to add a sprinkle of magic to all who visit.

Join the Hussey family for a Victorian Christmas Eve

Saturday 23 November - Sunday 5 January, 11am-3pm. Celebrate the Victorian Christmas that the Hussey family would have enjoyed. Play with children’s toys under the Christmas tree, dance in the hall and see the dining room getting ready for Christmas celebrations.

Sometimes you just need to get out the house and enjoy some fresh air. At Scotney Castle, we've got 780 acres of estate for you to explore, as well as the formal garden, so pull on your boots, grab a scarf and get outdoors.

Soak up the Christmas atmosphere and enjoy carol singing in front of the Old Castle on Sunday 15 December at 11.30am and 2pm. This year we are joined by a local Victorian carol singing group who will lead the sing along to all of your festive favourites.

There are plenty of options available in our tea-room, from light snacks, hot meals or just mince pies. We have got plenty of indoor seating and a cosy log burner to warm you up after your visit to the garden. If you are looking for something more traditional you can book a two or three course Christmas lunch on our tea-room between 25 November and 20 December (Monday-Friday only).
