UK Summer Savings for Families

This summer, visitors can enjoy a day out for less at the National Trust, following the UK Government’s temporary cut to VAT.
From 25 June to 1 September 2026, you’ll pay less on admissions and on children’s meals in National Trust cafés thanks to the UK Government VAT relief scheme.
And, with our Summer of Play activities and games getting underway, now is a great time to plan your visit.
What is the Great British Summer Savings scheme?
In May 2026, the Government announced temporary VAT relief, with a scheme called Great British Summer Savings.
The VAT rate on eligible activities will be cut from 20% to 5%, from 25 June to 1 September inclusive, and applies across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The scheme is designed to help families enjoy days out for less this summer amid increasing cost pressures.
All admissions to National Trust properties and children's meals in National Trust cafés are subject to the reduction, as well as Explorer Passes valid for dates only within the period. Child and family tickets for certain ticketed theatre, cinema, and concert events are subject to the reduction.
