FAQs:

• Can I get a refund on an event ticket I bought for the summer?

  If you’ve bought a ticket that qualifies for the discount, you don’t need to do anything to receive a refund. We will be contacting you via the email address given at the point of booking.

  Refunds will be in the form of a National Trust e-gift voucher and will be rounded up to the nearest £5. The gift voucher can be spent in our shops, cafes and on our website. More information about our gift vouchers can be found here: Gift card information | National Trust

• When will my refund be issued?

  We will be issuing National Trust gift vouchers, rounded up to the nearest £5, as a refund. The gift voucher can be spent in our shops, cafes and on our website. We’ll start issuing gift vouchers on 26 June. Due to the volume, this may take a little while, but you should receive an email from us within a month.

• Can I pass the discount back to the National Trust, as a donation?

  Yes, you’re very welcome to donate the amount you’ve saved (or any other amount of your choosing). This can be done via any of our usual donation points – such as at the till when you arrive at a Trust property, or through our website. Thank you for your generosity.

• Why are only certain event tickets reduced in price?

  The Government’s VAT reduction only applies to certain goods and services. At the National Trust, it includes admission to our properties, children’s meals, and child or family tickets to theatre productions, cinema, concerts, shows and exhibitions.

  It doesn’t apply to other types of event tickets such as guided walks, art and craft workshops, tree climbing or yoga sessions.

• Why are Explorer Pass prices different on different websites?

  Explorer Pass pricing may vary while the temporary VAT reduction is being implemented. The reduction only applies where the full duration of the pass falls within the period of 25 June to 1 September 2026, and not all sales partners may be able to reflect this immediately. • Does the discount apply to children’s meals?

  Yes. From 25 June to 1 September, all food and drink items on our children’s menu in National Trust cafés will be discounted. This includes our cold pick-and-mix lunches, and our hot meal deal offers. If you have any questions, please speak to a member of our food and beverage team on arrival.

• Does the discount apply to group bookings?

  Yes. The savings on admissions applies to all bookings. The savings on events only apply to specific ticket types for theatre, cinema, music or exhibitions (children and family) but group bookings including these specific ticket types will receive the benefit on the eligible tickets.

• Does the discount apply to people visiting from overseas?

  Yes. The savings apply to everyone.

• Does the discount apply to car parking charges?

  No, car parking charges are not eligible for the reduced VAT rate.

• Does this affect membership or annual passes?

  No, membership and annual passes are not affected.

• How much will I pay at the place I'd like to visit?

  Admission prices vary by property. Please speak to a member of the Welcome Team when you arrive, they will be able to help you.
