Visiting Snowshill: what to expect

If you would like to visit the manor during your visit, please pre-book in advance. If you would like a garden-only visit, you do not have to pre-book.

Book ahead if you'd like to see the manor during your visit. For garden-only visits, you do not have to pre-book.

If you would like to visit the manor, you must pre-book. Spaces are limited. If you would like a garden-only visit, you do not have to pre-book. All tickets (pre-booked and on the day) include access to the garden, the ground floor of the Priest’s House (Cottage), the shop, second-hand bookshop and café.

 

How to book: 

  • If you would like to visit the manor, you must pre-book. Spaces are limited.
  • The time on your pre-booked ticket is for your entry to the manor itself. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your entry time to allow time to check in at visitor reception, and make the 10-15 minute walk to the manor.
  • If you would like a garden-only visit, you do not have to pre-book.
  • All tickets include access to the garden, the ground floor of the Priest’s House (Cottage), the shop, second-hand bookshop and café.
  • Due to the limited nature of the visit to the manor under the current government restrictions, there is no additional charge. 
  • If you have a pre-booked ticket for the manor, the timeslot is for your arrival time at visitor reception only. 
  • Members book for free, while non-members will need to pay when booking.
  • Please book one ticket per person, except for children aged 5 or under as they don’t need a ticket.
  • You will receive your booking confirmation by email. Please make sure you fill in your correct email address when you book to ensure you receive your confirmation email, and check your junk inbox as they sometimes arrive there.
  • If your plans change and you can’t make your timeslot, you can change or cancel your booking by calling the National Trust Box Office on 0344 249 1895. We really appreciate you doing this as soon as possible so the tickets can be made available for other visitors.

 

Parking and arrival 

  • The car park is open until 5pm each day.
  • Overnight stays are not permitted. 
  • Camper vans or larger vehicles: Our car park is quite small so please call ahead if you are bringing a camper van to book a space - 01386 852410.
  • If you have pre-booked, please have your ticket to hand, and show it to any member of staff who asks for it at visitor reception. If you are a member with a booking, we'll also ask for you to show your membership card. 
  • If you arrive less than 30 minutes before your entrance to the manor, entry will be at the discretion of the property team.
  • If you’re more than 10 minutes late for your arrival slot then entry will be at the discretion of the property team.
  • Last entry is at 4pm, and you're welcome to explore the garden until we close at 5pm.

 

Staying safe 

  • Face coverings are recommended in enclosed and crowded areas. 

 

What's open?

Car park: 11am - 5pm (car park gate locked after last visitor leaves at 5pm)

Garden and grounds: 11am - 5pm

Café: 11am - 4.30pm (hot food served between 12-2pm). From Monday 17 May, limited indoor seating is available.

Shop: 11am - 5pm. 

Second-hand bookshop: open from 11am to 4.30pm.

Toilets: located at visitor reception, café and the garden. Please note, accessible toilets are only available at visitor reception and the café. 

Manor:

  • Visits are limited due to the nature of the building - we have a large collection and small rooms. If you would like to visit the manor, you must book in advance. 
  • The time on your pre-booked ticket is for your entry to the manor itself. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your entry time to allow time to check in at visitor reception, and make the 10-15 minute walk to the manor.
  • Subject to volunteer numbers, the ground floor and first floor only are open this year. The top floor remains closed. 
  • Face coverings are recommended in the manor as it is enclosed, and busy at times. 

 

What's closed or not available? 

  • Buggy transfer service: Not currently running. 
  • Dogs: Only assistance dogs are allowed beyond the entrance into the grounds and garden. 

 

Accessibility

Blue badge parking available, located in the central aisle of the main car park next door to the visitor reception building. 

The garden is a 10-15 minute walk at a moderate pace from the visitor reception.

The garden is easy to find your way around and to distance from other visitors.
