Winter Weekend

The Hall closes on 9 December to allow vital winter conservation work to take place but festive fun continues down at Home Farm and in the estate over the weekend of 15 & 16 December. It's the perfect chance to get out of the stuffy city centre and into the fresh air and beautiful surroundings of our grounds and gardens.

Children exploring the festive outdoors

If you want to explore the grounds and gardens then we've got some great events for you to join in with. Download our What's On leaflet here to help you plan your day.

Wrap up warm and take part in the Tinsel Toddle at 11.30am or 1pm or bring your four-legged friend along to run or walk the Rudog Dash at any point during the day.

On both days you can join in with the magic of winter on Gatling the Winter Wizard’s enchanting outdoor tour at 11.30am, 12.30 & 2.30pm. Watch in wonder as he defies the laws of physics and casts magical spells.

You can also pick up a Wrap Up Warm trail map from Reception and track down all the trees that are snuggled up for winter, or pop into the Education Room to try some festive crafts!

For those who haven’t quite got all their Christmas presents yet, there’ll be stalls from some of our favourite local suppliers in the Home Farm courtyard, selling unusual and special gifts. Stall holders will include Oakes Candles, Angela Power Ceramics (Sunday only), Usbourne Books, Vintage Poultry stationery and textiles, Turncoat Gin, Cheshire Cheesecake, Jones Boys prints (Saturday only) and Pop-up Poetry.

Visit our main Speke Hall shop for beer tastings from Mannings Brewers and a special 3 for £5 offer on our fantastic local gingerbread range from Mr Thompson's Bakery. With flavours including original, honey, mulled wine and Christmas pudding, they'll make perfect Christmas gifts.

Home Farm restaurant is open on both days so why not treat yourself to one of our Christmas speciality dishes – we recommend the mulled wine muffins. Head to the outdoor stall for hot drinks, mince pies, toffee apple crumble tarts and mulled wine, as well as marshmallow toasting. It's the perfect activity on chilly winter days!

With a warm drink in hand, relax and enjoy the beautiful sounds of some of Liverpool’s best local musicians down at Home Farm. Music will be performed by local band The Hushtones who will be treating us to some of their soulful harmonies and catchy melodies.

Normal grounds admission prices apply for entry over the weekend - free for NT members and children under 5.
