We're open! A new year a new Sudbury

Children playing in the garden in winter at Sudbury Hall and the National Trust Museum of Childhood, Derbyshire

It's a time when we would usually be closed for winter, but this year we're opening our doors every weekend (Friday - Monday) throughout January.

Help brush off those winter blues with an adventure to Sudbury before the half term crowds descend. It’s the perfect time for a quiet stroll by the lake or get cosy in the tea-room with a hot drink and a slice of something tasty.

Winter is a time of quiet calm here at Sudbury... at least on the outside! It's a great time to avoid the crowds and enjoy wildlife spotting down by the lake but inside it's a hive of winter conservation activity.

Outdoor adventure

If you're visiting with the little ones make sure you pick up a free copy of the 50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾ booklet and explore the grounds to see how many activities you can tick off. Climb a tree, hunt for bugs and see how many birds you can spot along the lake.

There’s plenty of space to burn off some energy in the gardens and children can tackle obstacles in the woodland play area.
