Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at Sutton Hoo 2019
Get out into nature and discover all about the creatures and wildlife calling Sutton Hoo home with a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt trail!
Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt
Friday 19 April - Monday 22 April; 10am – 3.30pm
We’re getting back to nature this Easter, as we throw open the gates for the first time this year and invite you to join us behind the scenes whilst exciting work to transform your experience of visiting Sutton Hoo continues.
Go on a wild adventure around the Sutton Hoo landscape this Easter weekend on our Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt.
Bring the family and make your way around the beautiful Sutton Hoo estate on the trail of the different creatures that can be found making their homes here.
See if you can try jumping as high as a grasshopper, flutter like a butterfly or twitch your nose like a spring hare.
Find the creatures and complete the tasks to win a chocolate prize and a take-away nature conservation project for you to try out at home.
Where better to celebrate this Ēosturmōnaþ – month of Easter - than this special Anglo-Saxon place? It’s perfect for both youngsters and the young at heart!
We’ve been busy working on our plans to make a visit to Sutton Hoo more exciting than ever.
If you come to see us this Easter, we’d love to tell you more about what we’ve been up to, what’s still to come and when you’ll be able to come back and see inside our newly created displays in the Exhibition Hall and Tranmer House or climb the new viewing tower.
Our Sutton Hoo Roadshow team will be on hand to tell you more about the work we’re doing, show you our designs and even give you a chance to see some of our incredible replica items up close.
There’s so much happening at Sutton Hoo this year, with lots of new things to discover throughout the spring and summer months and we can’t wait to start sharing it with you again.
How much does it cost?
Hunts will be £2.50 per person (including National Trust members). Normal site admission applies.
Please note, we will have a separate area away from reception for you to sign up and pay for the Easter trails, and will be able to accept cash only, as there are no card payment facilities in this area.
Spring is a fantastic time for getting out and about and exploring nature as it reawakens. Why not tick off some of the '50 Things to do' activites at Sutton Hoo this Easter? Here are some of our favourites:
18. Create some wild art
Let out your creative side and see what you can make with nature’s finest art tools – the sticks and leaves all around you!
25. Join nature’s band
Pick a thick piece of grass and sandwich it between your two thumbs... Now blow!
31. Make friends with a bug
At first the Royal Burial Grounds seem quite quiet, but if you look carefully they're teeming with wildlife! See if you can find any bugs on your way around. Make sure to put anything back from where you picked them up.
34. Discover wild animal clues
The sandy soil is great for spotting animal tracks - what can you see?
48. Keep a nature diary
Why not keep up the good work with nature when you get home too? Make your visit today your first entry in creating a new nature diary.
