'Winterselde' Telling of Tales 2017

Outdoor fire in front of Sutton Hoo visitor centre

Join us every weekend from Saturday 11 November to Sunday 10 December at 1pm for fantastic tales around the yule log.

In Old English, the translation of Winterselde is a ‘winter home/house’.

For us, this word conjures up glorious sunsets before the evenings draw in, cosying up by the fire with hot drinks and warm blankets, and spending quality time with loved ones. Make Sutton Hoo your winter home throughout this winter season and join us for our first event of ‘Telling of Tales’.

With a roaring open fire, grab a hot drink from our café and head out to hear our expert storytellers as they weave their magic. There’s even our Random Rugs available to borrow if it gets extra chilly.

Listen to the stories of the past, myth and magic or truth and fantasy – that one’s up to you to decide and not necessarily a right answer.

Experience this time honoured tradition of stories around an open fire with good friends and family at Sutton Hoo this November and December. It’s the perfect way to celebrate winter as the Anglo-Saxons would have done so many centuries ago.

This event is included within site admission.
