David Birtwhistle exhibits at The Firs
Local artist David Birtwhistle displays his best loved locations around Worcestershire and National Trust sites around the UK at The Firs.
David Birtwhistle Worcestershire and The National Trust exhibition at The Firs from 15 December 2017.
These evocative detailed paintings represent some of Edward Elgar’s favourite views and sites of remembrance to the great man himself – featuring the Birthplace cottage, Worcester Cathedral, the Elgar Statue and of course the Malvern Hills.
The paintings are displayed in the Carice room and Visitor Centre of The Firs, Birthplace of Sir Edward Elgar every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am until 4pm during our winter opening hours for viewing and purchase. You can also purchase prints and cards of some the paintings on display.
David is a well-known and loved Worcestershire artist and we are extremely happy for him to be our first artist exhibiting in the Carice room under the National Trust stewardship. David and his wife Linda has been both a visitor to the birthplace and local National Trust sites for many years as well as Worcestershire residents.
"David’s display of paintings will launch our exciting programme of art, music and theatre exhibitions planned for The Firs in the year to come” says Kirsty Bothma, Visitor Experience Officer.
" For me this is an opportunity to help celebrate the endeavours of the national trust in promoting the spirit of Elgar and ‘his beloved country’."
Event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue.
