Summer at Woodchester Park

Lakes are great for reflections

Summer is a great time to visit Woodchester Park, you can spot some of the wildlife and wildflowers, as well as enjoy the play trail.

The woodlands of Woodchester are thriving in the summer with flora and fauna. 

On the walks through the park you can spot plants peeking through the walls including wild strawberries and hart's-tongue fern.

The valley of Woodchester is a haven for birds. Heron's in particular have been enjoying the park for decades as a place to raise their chicks.

But it's not just herons here, as you follow the walks you're surrounded by gentle birdsong. 124 different species have been spotted, including willow warblers, spotted flycatchers, and reed warblers.

Woodchester's lakes are also home to lots of wildlife. 

You can see great reflections in the lakes

Frisky fish

The carp in the lakes are starting to get frisky. As spawning begins, you can see them thrashing and splashing around in the shallow, weedy and warmer water.
