Gravity Fields Festival 2018 26-30 September
Woolsthorpe Manor will be alive with science and arts events for five days this September, as we host an exciting Gravity Fields programme of talks, tours and hands-on science.
The world changed here; the place where Newton shaped modern scientific thinking. Enjoy experts sharing their passion, expand your knowledge or just walk in the footsteps of one of the greatest scientific minds, Sir Isaac Newton.
Themed around ‘Voyages of Discovery’ Gravity Fields takes places in and around Grantham and features five days of world class speakers, exhibitions, outdoor theatre, music, circus shows and events.
The ‘Night at the Manor’ is a unique opportunity to experience Woolsthorpe Manor after dark in an evening of science delights, night time tours, street food, bar and music. Mingle in the Woolsthorpe Marquee and enjoy bite-size science talks in a party atmosphere.
All hosted by Dr Harry Cliff, Cambridge physicist and curator at the Science Museum and festival patron Professor Valerie Gibson, University of Cambridge.
Look to our inspiring daytime programme of talks by renowned scientists and academics on subjects as varied as a love affair with Eclipses, British Tattooing and Plant Hunters to Thrifty Science and Gravity Fields.
The Festival culminates with the launch of our new Guide to Woolsthorpe Manor, a guided walk from Woolsthorpe, a Film Project launch and the next adventure of our apple Pips in Space project!
For future Newtons out there, explore the science behind the thrills and spills of the circus with Dr Ken on Saturday afternoon or be inspired with your school at our daily primary school science workshops.
" I defy anyone to get as much fascinating and enjoyable entertainment as we have enjoyed over the past five days. I will be there in 2018 if I’m still breathing and walking!"
