Inspiring children by bringing history to life

Children can view the collection of prehistoric artefacts, and discover how the Avebury landscape has evolved over the last 6,000 years, through interactive exhibits.  We offer a range of activities to suit various ages.

You can request a 20-minute talk in our interactive Barn Gallery, introducing your class to what life was like in prehistoric Britain and then follow this with a guided tour around the Stone Circle for groups of up to 25.

We have an onsite education room, which can be booked for classroom work, bag storage, and as a space to eat packed lunches.  This has a maximum capacity of 45 people.

To help you with pre-visit and post-visit work, take a look at the teacher's kit, provided by Wessex Archaeology which includes information sheets and activity resources (Please note: some of the practical information is out of date, such as the prices and opening times, but it's still a useful resource).
