Help us save Baddesley's books
Thank you for helping us to begin the vital conservation work on our books by buying a raffle ticket!
Here at Baddesley Clinton, we have a wonderful library with 2500 books on display and another 1000 in storage. Our oldest book dates from 1565 and topics range from Catholic history to gardening.
Sadly, many of our books are in a sorry state and in need of repair. Depending on the work required, each book will cost between £200-£450 to repair. This can include repairing tears and missing leather, resewing and attaching detached leaves (pages) and repairing the spine.
Of course we look after our books very carefully, but much of the work needed depends on specialist skills. We have sent some of them away to a conservation studio, and others are being looked after here in the library.
This year's project will be all about restioring the stables - there'll be more information soon. Once again you'll be able to help us to complete this valuable work by buying a raffle ticket. They can be purchased at Visitor Reception for £1 and the National Trust will double the amount of money we raise, so please buy a ticket and help us to preserve these historic documents. Who knows, maybe the £10,000 prize will come back to Baddesley again this year!
