Our new vegetable garden
Baddesley’s new vegetable garden is completed at last!
Over the winter we had the mammoth task of moving the vegetable garden from its old position, which had problems and wasn’t in the right place, to a new area where it used to be.
Historical research which took place after the old garden was installed back in 2004 has revealed that the original site was much closer to the house and a much better site for a vegetable garden.
We had huge problems due to the bad weather during the winter and early spring which caused delays.
New beds have been dug and new paths installed. A late spring this year has further held the plants back, but now they’re romping away and we’ve made our first delivery of home-grown veg to the restaurant for you to enjoy.
There’s a new cut flower border where we’re growing beautiful blooms to decorate the house, and some to be dried to create some of this year’s Christmas decorations.
Still to be installed are the planned Victorian-style cold frames. These are the subject of our raffle this year, and you can help us to build them by buying a raffle ticket. Follow the link at the bottom of this page to find out more about how the raffle helps us.
