Discovery Centre Summer Programme

Young visitors having fun up a tree

It’s going to be a fun packed summer, and there’s lots for families to enjoy in the Discovery Centre every day!

In the Discovery Centre, there are different activities every week. From designing a Spitfire to making your own glamourous creations that would have looked at home in the big house during the 1930s.

Putting on the Glitz - Thursday 21st to Sunday 31st July

The 1930s was all about glitz and glamour, at least for the very rich. So come along and design your own necklaces, brooches and tie pins in the style of the 1930s.

Once upon a time … - Monday 1st to Sunday 7th August

Inspired by Rupert the Bear, Babar the Elephant and Swallows and Amazons (classic children’s stories of the time) create your own characters and go on an adventure.

Putting on the Glitz - Monday 8th to Sunday 14th August

Put your best foot forward and find out more about the fashions of 1936 by designing your own paper dolls.

Spitfires and helicopters - Monday 15th to Sunday 21st August

Celebrate 80 years of spitfires and helicopters by designing your own.

Design your own spitfire glider (£1.50 per glider) and make a paper helicopter (free of charge).

Decorate Belton - Monday 22nd to Monday 29th August

If you were Lord and Lady Brownlow, how would you have decorated Belton House? Be inspired by the House and 1930s glamour to create your very own room.

How did people travel to Belton? - Tuesday 26th August to Friday 2nd September

Whether you were a member of the family or a deliveryman you had to get to Belton somehow. Create your own crafts inspired by the transport of the day.

How do you think visitors might have arrived at Belton in the 1930s?
