Youth Conservation Residentials programme

During this varied programme, participants will assist with the day-to-day running of our busy award-winning Outdoor Centre; gaining a wide range of experience in assisting with conservation tasks, activity support and helping us with the smooth running of our busy island campsite and Lodge accommodation.

Expect to gain valuable experience on this beautifully tranquil island, situated in Poole Harbour, including knowledge of the flora and fauna it is home to and have the chance to get stuck in with assisting with a variety of outdoor adventure and learning activities that bring the island to life for our day and residential visitors.  This is a perfect opportunity for those with an interest in outdoor learning, or a general interest in learning about the natural world and/or delivering environmental education. Participants on this residential will also assist the Outdoor Centre and Countryside teams with a wide range of practical and conservation tasks on the island, from clearance of invasive species and using hand tools (full training given) to fence repairs and wildlife surveys.

Practical tasks vary from season to season, but you can expect a varied programme that also allows for participants to pick and choose and develop their own interests and to settle in and experience island life for themselves.

Price

£140 which covers 5 days and 4 nights on Brownsea Island and is inclusive of camping fees, cooking equipment hire, entrance fee to the island and return ferry crossing to either Sandbanks or Poole Quay.
