Everyday activities

Outdoor Centre

From Junior Ranger Days to marshmallow toasting and mini golf, the Outdoor Centre invites you to embrace the great outdoors in the spirit of Scouting and Guiding.

Warm up with a cuppa

We know by the time you reach the Outdoor Centre you will have earned a cuppa and a sit down. The Outdoor Centre team are busy bees and will be leading activities or pitching tents, but they welcome you to make a cup of tea or coffee using our self-service facilities and relax on one of the picnic tables on the decking. Teas and coffees are free of charge but we do ask for a small voluntary donation which will go right back into conserving Brownsea.

Trading Post shop

Drop into the Outdoor Centre on your day trip and whilst you warm up, check out the Scouting and Guiding displays at the Trading Post.  You can learn about Lord Baden Powell’s legacy and pick up a memento of your visit including badges and postcards.

Find out more about what the shop sells here.

Junior Ranger Days

Why not bring your budding young naturalists on a Junior Ranger Day to learn what its like to look after this incredibly diverse habitat?  They'll get stuck in, following in the footsteps of one of our friendly Outdoor Centre rangers and learn some fun bush craft skills.  It’s a great opportunity to make friends, get active and make a real difference in helping the team look after this special place.

Mini Golf

Putt your way through history on the mini golf course and pit yourself against family and freinds.  The course is free of charge and mallots and balls can be picked up at the Trading Post for a suggested donation.

Camp over

From April to Septmber, the campsite at the Outdoor Centre is open to the public. There's no minimum booking so you can stay over for the night following your day visit - or book a longer stay. The Outdoor Centre has flushable toilets, hot showers and an honesty box for hot drinks. It's a great way to experience the island after hours.
