50 things to do before you're 11 ¾ this summer

It’s summer! The perfect time to get the family out in the fresh air and enjoy the outdoor spaces here at Canons Ashby.

Pick up a 50 things to do before you’re 11¾ scrapbook from the visitor reception and get some ideas for making life-long memories with your younger explorers. Here are a few activities you and the family can try out this summer.

Number 1. Get to know a tree

What an amazing tree!

Have a look at this wonderful old cedar tree planted in 1780. Touch the bark and imagine how many creatures may have used it as a home. From bugs and bats to squirels and birds.

Number 25. Join nature's band

Pick a nice piece of grass from the paddock or parkland and have a go at making a grass trumpet.

Number 31. Hunt for bugs

Taking a closer look

Have a closer look on the plants and ground to see what little creatures you can find. Particularly in the spinney.

Number 44. Go bird watching

Bring your binoculars and keep your eyes on the sky! There are plenty of interesting feathered friends who call Canons Ashby home.

Remember your sticker ... Once you have done your 50 things, collect the stickers for your scrapbook from visitor reception or the Coach House shop.

Also keep a look out for our special 50 Things events coming up. Particularly the 50 Things Thursdays in August.
