Summer fun at Castle Drogo
There's lots going on this summer holiday at Castle Drogo from a trail around the garden to craft activities.
Crafty castle capers
Every Tuesday during the school holidays there are craft activities in the hut. (Starting on Tuesday 30 July and running until Tuesday 27 August, a small charge applies).
On Sunday 28 July from 11am-3pm join Wild Tribe in the castle grounds for bushcraft activities for children aged between 5-12. (Normal admission applies, National Trust members free, drop in event no booking required).
'What's the story?' trail
Every day from Saturday 13 July until Sunday 1 September, 11am-4pm there is a trail around the garden and grounds. There are 9 grey boxes for children to find around the garden and they need to answer the question on the trail sheet by looking in the box. When they have finished there is a small prize for completing the trail. (£1, normal admission applies).
In the house
Around the house children can follow the Heritage Heroes trail to solve the riddles, complete the activities and answer the questions.
In the garden
You can have a game of tennis on the lawn or have a picnic in the orchard which is full of wild flowers.
Or you could run wild around Piddledown Common, it's a great place for kite flying and tracking wild animals. On Wednesday 7 August, 2-4pm as part of the national day for play there will be Play Day, an afternoon of fun and games on the estate.
