The tramper at Castle Drogo

A tramper (mobility scooter) on the grounds.

The all-terrain mobility scooter (tramper) can be hired to explore the garden and estate.

The tramper can be hired to explore a specially designed route around the property and in the formal garden (normal admission charges apply). The hire facility is part of Countryside Mobility which non-members can join for a small fee (£10 for the year or £2.50 for a two week taster membership) and receive a short induction. This then allows access to nearly 40 Countryside Mobility sites around South West England. To find out if this would be suitable for you please follow this link http://www.countrysidemobility.org/membership

Booking

Booking is advised (especially for first time users and at busy times) please call 01647 433306 to book. No hire charge is made for using the mobility scooter but users do need to become members of Countryside Mobility.

Route

The advised route for the estate goes over Piddledown Common, along Hunter's path and then there is a turning circle and a picnic bench to admire the view. (There are 2 gates to open on this route, although this has been tested so that the individual on the tramper can open them on their own, some individuals may need assistance).

The route in the garden takes in some of the most fragrant areas including the azalea path, fragrant terrace and rose garden. To find out more about the routes download the maps.
