'GWLEDD' Food Festival
On 22-23 June, Dinefwr will become a hive of activity as we welcome you all to our new-look GWLEDD Food Festival.
In a nutshell
GWLEDD, meaning feast, is a celebration of local growers, nature friendly farming and sustainable food and drink. We’ll throw in some expert talks, guest demonstrations, a dash of live entertainment and a fist full of family activities to make sure your weekend is filled with foodie fun.
Eat your fill
It wouldn’t be a food festival without lots of tasty treats to fill your bellies so the courtyard and surrounding area of Newton House will be jam-packed full of local food and drink producers to tickle your taste buds.
A full list of stallholders is available below.
From field to fork
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the Dinefwr estate’s hidden orchard and allotments before heading off on foot with the foraging experts to see what delicious delicacies are growing amongst the hedgerows.
Budding bee-keepers can pick up some top tips from the National Trust volunteers that care for the numerous bee hives on the site too; and guided tours with the park stockman will give an interesting insight into how the estate’s fallow deer is managed to supply quality venison across the UK.
For little foodies
There’ll be lots to keep the kids entertained with cookery demos and Plant it, Grow it, Eat it workshops. Join the mini Ranger Academy and make bird feeders to take home - The GWLEDD Food Festival isn’t just for humans’ y’know.
Joining us at the Dinefwr table this year are your friends from Beyond the Border. Beyond the Border are an international storytelling festival and they’ll be bringing along a stellar line up of performers and entertainers from across the globe to share their tasty tales.
Over the weekend, an impressive array of leading artists will be sharing stories on themes of food, feasting and midsummer, including Jan Blake, Michael Harvey, Daniel Morden, Clare Muireann Murphy, Phil Okwedy and Tamar Eluned Williams plus a few special international guests you won’t want to miss!
GWLEDD Food Festival is a dog friendly event. All of the stalls will be accessible and there are lots of open spaces and trails for your four-legged friend to enjoy.
Dogs will not be permitted inside Newton House so if you would like to use the Billiard Room Café or get tickets for Beyond the Border indoor performances please arrange for your pooch to be looked after or use our designated dog loops to tie up your dog for a short time.
