Dunster under the sheets

Winter conservation in action

Ever wondered what happens in country houses over the winter?

Opening for the first time in February to the 17 March, you can see the castle as never before as the Conservation Team complete the winter clean. The scaffolding will be up and the dust sheets will be out, it’s the perfect opportunity to peek beneath the sheets and see how Dunster Castle is cared for over the winter months.

Inside the caslte we will share stories of how people lived and worked in the rooms, but also tell you about the work of the National Trust and how the team look after the castle. You may visit on a day when the house is quiet and atmospheric, or you may find the house full of staff and volunteers going about their work. Who knows what you’ll discover behind the scenes…
