Volunteer at Emmetts Garden

We’re always looking for new members to join our team. We’re not looking for experts, just people with a passion for Emmetts Garden who enjoy interacting with the public.

UPDATE - As all National Trust properties are now closed, we are not currently able to accept any new volunteers at this time. We very much look forward to welcoming new applications once we reopen and have left our volunteer stories up for you to read during this time.

Garden Guide

Want to share your passion for horticulture with others? Garden Guides provide a warm welcome for all visitors, helping them to explore and learn more about Emmetts so that they have an enjoyable and memorable visit.

Garden Volunteer

Working as part of the outdoor team, volunteers help with the upkeep, development and protection of the garden at Emmetts garden, woodlands and wider estate. Our volunteers recently have helped us get ready for the spring colour season by planting over 3,000 tulip bulbs and so much more.

Help With Our Events

There's nothing like a fun day out and we are looking for event assistants to help make them happen. If you like to meet people and enjoy working with families, have a cheerful and positive outlook even when the weather's against you and you're willing to get stuck in then you'll be instrumental in taking an event from beginning to end and helping visitors enjoy their experience.

Buggy Drivers

Like a good drive or see yourself as a chauffeur then you'll want to look at our buggy driving role. Emmetts is a hillside garden so why not be the friendly face that escorts those less able from the visitor welcome centre to the discovery cabin up a steep slope. You'll also have a hand in giving directions and sharing some of your own stories.

Become A Historical Researcher

If you like to root down details and uncover new information then this is the role for you. Volunteer as part of a team researching archives and historic records to bring to life some of the exciting stories at Emmetts.

If you are the sort of person that likes to make everybody feel welcome then you should think about volunteering with Emmetts Garden. Enjoy a varied day signing up members, answering questions and supporting in reception all the while using your communication skills to make sure everyone has a great visit.

Retail Assistant Volunteer

Everyone likes a bit of retail therapy, don’t they? Retail Assistants offer this vital service for all visitors to Emmetts. They love helping people find just the thing they’re looking for, and helping us achieve our sales targets, so everyone’s happy!
